Hot Above, Cold Below: Cooling Down and Charging Up

Are you run down and depleted, but at the same time wired and agitated? So are millions of other New Yorkers. But, just because it’s common doesn’t mean you have to settle for it. What might be called “NYC syndrome” is one example of a pattern of “hot above, cold below” (or excess above, deficiency below), along with other imbalances from indigestion to anxiety, insomnia, impotence, and hot flashes. This talk with explore some variations of this pattern. We’ll discuss how to recognize when heat is showing up in the wrong places (leaving key areas cold and deficient), and how to use herbs to help the system return to harmony. Will include discussion of herbal strategies from both Classical Chinese and Western herbal traditions, and offer herbal and lifestyle strategies for coming back into balance.

Jonathan H Edwards, MSOM, LAc has trained in Western and Classical Chinese herbalism, acupuncture, and divination techniques. He seeks to offer clarity and nourishment from the wellspring of these traditions. In practice at Brooklyn Acupuncture Project and, he also maintains, dedicated to helping people follow the thread of sacred weirdness to align with their soul’s work.
