Foraging & Feasting: Field Trip to Dina Falconi’s Garden, Kitchen & Apothecary

Description:

DIna Falcone -AV pict2Early bird discount until 9/6
Join us at the beautiful herb gardens and permaculture homestead of Dina Falconi for a day considering wild and cultivated herbs as food and medicine. We will learn to identify wild edible and medicinal plants that grow abundantly and readily in the region along with their healing and nutritional properties. Participants will gain hands–on experience processing and tasting wild foods through participating in the preparation of a wild food lunch and drink. Particular preparation techniques to optimize nutritional value will be discussed. The day will conclude with a tour of a working apothecary where herbs are processed and many forms of herbal preparations are made.

Please note: This workshop will be held upstate in Accord, NY 12404.  Specific address info will be sent upon registraion. The time listed is the class time and does not include travel time; so please note the day will begin earlier than 10 and end later than 5.  Every attempt will be made to arrange carpooling (in which case students will be asked to chip in for gas and tolls), but otherwise information will be provided on public transportation options.  Registered students will be contacted to make arrangements.
And also note: This class will take place rain or shine, warm or cold. If raining a good deal of the class will move inside, but students should be prepared for outside garden walks with rain gear, etc.
Also early registration is particularly recommended, as spaces for this workshop will be limited.

We are sorry but registration for this event is now closed.

Please contact us if you would like to know if spaces are still available.

Please Note!

Pre-registration is recommended! The pre-registered (and early bird) fee is lower and registrants will be notified of any workshop info.   Class handouts and any special information will be sent  to pre-registered students by email ahead of the class. (Please do check emails ahead of class for this reason.)  Also, we determine whether a class will go forward based on the number of people who have signed up.
The Early Bird discount  (10%) is only available up till 11:59 pm of the date listed- roughly 2 weeks before a class starts. The discounted price will be seen when one checks out.
Registered Professional Program students receive guaranteed registration as well as  additional  classes, meetings, personal support, handouts, class assignments, assessment  and  credit for the professional certificate. If you would like credit for the course, please contact ArborVitae and submit an application.

Refund Policy
For a refund or class credit, you need to contact us at least 7 days before the class starts, and we will issue a refund/ credit. We trust this policy seems fair, as we plan according to class size, buy class materials in advance and our teachers often travel distances to NYC to teach, and so it is difficult to deal with last minute cancellations. You can, however, transfer your registration to a friend who would like your spot if you you are unable to attend.

Cancellation Policy
If for whatever reason, ArborVitae needs to cancel a class, we will do our best to give you 24 hours notice and you will receive 100% refund of the cost of the class, or if you prefer a credit for the rescheduled class or future class.

Rain-date Policy
If an outside class has a rain-date and  you can not make the rain-date  (given that we use it because of weather), you will be offered a credit for the class of your choice.
